The Vision
With an overall budget of close to 3-million dollars, Lacombe Athletic Park will initially include a new building, featuring dressing rooms, concession, tower for officials, coaches and media, as well as washrooms and equipment storage. It will not only house Lacombe’s high school and minor football teams, but will be able to host other sports groups as well, including soccer and track and field clubs.
A new multi-use field house and artificial turf is needed in Lacombe for a number of important reasons...
- Number of participants
- Availability of adequate fields (all weather)
- Moving running track to a central area of town
- Take advantage of lack of facilities in Central Alberta
- Draw of sporting events to Lacombe and District
- Avoidance of cancellation of games
- Safest playing surface, actually reduces injury over grass
